Description:
Tenders are invited for Acceleration of Inclusive Social Forestry Development through Establishment of Integrated Area Development in South Kalimantan GGGI through the Sustainable Landscape Investments Partnership in Indonesia Project aim to support the Government of Indonesia to increase the Natural Capital Asset (NCA) by private and public initiatives through incentivizing and mobilizing investments that result in significant contributions to national forest and land use FOLU net sink targets. The aim of this assessment is to analyse and design the intervention to accelerate social forestry program in Indonesia. South Kalimantan, a province committed to climate change mitigation, has started implementing FOLU Net Sink 2030 since December 2022. The province has switched its development policy from natural resource extraction to green growth, aiming to address deforestation and land degradation. Since 2016, the provincial government has endorsed over 17 local policies, including the 'Green Revolution', which aims to restore 500,000 Ha of degraded land. The province also has a high commitment to develop social forestry. South Kalimantan received 161,668 hectares of social forestry from the central government, with only 96,583 hectares of this area achieved to date (SK forestry agency, 2024). There are 457 SF groups but less than 22 percent of them meet the platinum and gold criteria. To enhance the SF progress, the provincial government endorsed the SK Governor Regulation No.2/2024 about Facilitation for Social Forestry Management Acceleration, aim to aligning cross-sectoral policies and regulations to support the utilization of social forestry potential for improving people's welfare, and conserving forests and the environment. The local regulations also mandated the forestry agency to establish and develop IAD, but there is a lot to be done to make this happen amidst limited resources.
