  • Description:
  • Tenders are invited for Consultancy Services to Undertake a Climate Risk Assessment for Qatar. Global Green Growth Institute (GGGI) for its project in Qatar is seeking for proposals from eligible and competent firms to undertake a climate risk assessment for Qatar focusing on five (5) priority sectors namely; a) Public Health; b) Water and Energy; c) Agriculture and Livestock; d) Infrastructure and; e) Biodiversity. GGGI Qatar is supporting the National Adaptation Planning (NAP) process for the State of Qatar to enable the country to identify and address its medium- and long-term priorities for adapting to climate change as part of Qatar-s broader development strategy and post-pandemic recovery efforts. One key component of the process is carrying out evidence-based, participatory, and expert-guided climate risk assessment to identify and prioritize the most urgent impacts of climate change on the most vulnerable sectors of the economy, which will serve as the basis for designing and implementing the appropriate adaptation measures to address the risks. As such, this assignment aims to achieve two objectives; reduce the vulnerability of Qatar to the impacts of climate change by enhancing its adaptative capacity and overall climate resilience; and mainstream climate change adaptation into the broader development planning process in different sectors and levels. The scope of work and major activities include; 1. Synthesis of past climate trends and future climate projections in context of five sectors: (a) public health; (b) water and energy; (c) agriculture and livestock; (d) infrastructure; and (e) biodiversity. 2. Identification of potential impacts of climate change on the sectors. 3. Evaluation of impacts in terms of magnitude (economic, social, and environmental) and likelihood. 4. Assessment and prioritization of the risks in consultation with stakeholders and experts. 5. Synthesis of current adaptation measures in place in these sectors (and sub-sectors). 6. Identification and prioritization of adaptation measures to address the risks and enhance overall resilience. Please note that you may be required to ‘Opt In- before you can start populating your response. The ‘Opt Out- functionality will also be available throughout the duration of the tender process. Opting out will give you the option of declaring you no longer want to receive any further communication in relation to this tender along with the opportunity of providing comments and feedback for this decision.
