- Request for proposals are invited for Consultancy Services to Undertake Detailed Feasibility Studies to Guide Establishment of Wetland Eco-Parks in Two Cities in Uganda SCOPE OF WORK: The scope of services intended to be provided by the selected bidders under this assignment shall include but is not limited to the following: a. Conduct a reconnaissance and preliminary assessment of the 2 proposed sites through field visits, review of existing documents, maps and existing data/information. b. Review available information on topography population, geology soils, ground water, storm water drainage, flooding, Land cover, land use, rainfall, human settlements, flora and fauna, pattern in and around dump sites. c. Review available information from other jurisdictions and countries that have successfully established Eco parks. d. Carryout the detailed topographic survey of the wetlands in the 2 cities and delineate the boundaries of the proposed sites highlighting areas of conservation, restoration and areas of modification, e. Produce detailed site layout plans for critical infrastructure and utilities showing land allotted for various proposed functions including walk boards, ramblers, education centres, restaurants, wetland protection and restoration sites etc. f. Carryout the plant and soil characterization of the site and recommend the suitable indigenous species of plants, shrubs and trees suitable for various sections of the Eco-parks g. Assess the community readiness, gender and social aspects of the sites in regards to the Eco-parks establishment h. Assess the environment for the likely environmental impacts during construction, operation and those that will arise from location & design and proposed mitigation measures i. Carryout consultations with the stakeholders and wherever required conduct site specific consultations disclosing the project information but also identify number of people who will be affected by the ecopark. j. Undertake a Market analysis and generate a marketing and promotion plan to guide the implementation of the commercial elements of the Ecoparks. k. Analyze the cost and financial aspects of the park for preparation of various scenarios pertaining to project financing and project cost.
