  • Description:
  • Request for proposals are invited for Environmental Impact and Monitoring Process of Regenerative Cattle Ranching Initiatives in Colombia Global Green Growth Institute (GGGI) Colombia is currently supporting a local partner that seeks to boost the implementation of regenerative livestock farming practices to combat the traditional fattening livestock farming model in Colombia. To achieve this, the local partner carries out the following actions: β€’ Identifies the property capable of implementing sustainable livestock farming practices. β€’ Carries out a collective investment process through its website. β€’ Acquires, mobilizes, and provides a sanitary management plan for the required livestock. β€’ Carries out the monitoring process. β€’ Creates a marketing circuit between producers, processors, and marketers. Given the potential growth and the high demand for this scheme that allows for increased investment, it is necessary to evaluate the results of the process and establish the benefits that this model is generating in order to continue with the increasing interest in participating in this scheme. To achieve it, the following actions have been identified: β€’ Evaluate the carbon sequestration results of the sustainable livestock farming practice on the projects already implemented. β€’ Establish a model to estimate ex ante the potential environmental results of investments. β€’ Establish a protocol for the analysis of the farms that may be involved. β€’ Establish a protocol for traceability of the livestock to be purchased. β€’ Establish a monitoring protocol to ensure zero deforestation during the fattening cycle. β€’ Identify the carbon footprint of investments and propose a compensation scheme. The local partner seeks to implement these actions to attract more investment and achieve an increase in the number of hectares destined for sustainable livestock farming, both in the department of Meta and at national level. Premised on the above, GGGI is looking for an experienced Service Provider who can perform the above-mentioned processes in such a way that allows to identify, measure, and monitor the environmental impacts generated by the regenerative livestock farming process promoted by the local partner. The main objective to be achieved is to identify the procedures which ensure that the transformation process towards a sustainable livestock farming model is effectively accomplished. To this end, all stages of the process shall be analyzed, including: a) The purchasing processes. Establish an evaluation process to verify that the breeding practices are aligned with the promoted model, including a traceability protocol that assures that the purchased livestock comes from places that accomplish zero deforestation. b) The transportation processes. Review the current process to measure the emissions and establish a compensation process for the generated emissions. c) The farms' selection process. Understand the different actions that shall be accomplished to accomplish sustainable practices, including animal welfare and the conservation and restoration of the farm's ecosystems. d) The MVR processes. Establish monitoring, verifying and reporting protocol for the projects, including the implemented and future ones. Additionally, the consultancy shall design, develop, and provide an instrument capable of estimating and measuring the emitted and absorbed tons of carbon in the different stages of the production chain, based on the initial state of each project. Using it, the Service Provider shall identify and structure a way to generate income for the farmers from the carbon capture from the regenerative practices through a voluntary compensation model.
